«Moscow Investment & Export Promotion Agency», daughter company of Moscow CCI, established in 2006 within the frameworks of Moscow City Government project “Moscow Export Initiative” under the auspices of United Nations Development Program. MIEPA is developing as a center of information, technical, analytical and consulting support for Moscow City Government, scientific and industrial entities in the sphere of foreign economic and investment activities. Investment company Qatari Diar plans to make a large investment in the Moscow property market. Its subsidiary, The First Investor (TFI), will complete putting together a joint property investment fund with Russia’s Gazprombank by October 2010; up until now, the partners have contributed $510mn each.

The Moscow authorities intend to cut by 93.4% the land tax for the plots in the city on which private non-profit organisations have established educational, healthcare and social security establishments, as well as plots used for sports facilities.

A commission has been set up in Moscow to implement the federal law on combating corruption in city development and construction. It is headed by First Deputy Mayor Vladimir Resin, who oversees the city’s construction sector.

Moscow Mayor Yuri Luzhkov may leave his post before his term of service expires.

Dmitry Orlov, the founder and director of the Agency for Political and Economic Communications (APECOM), said there could be four scenarios for his departure: a no-confidence vote at the Moscow City Duma initiated by President Dmitry Medvedev or the United Russia party in parliament, expiry of his term in 2011, early retirement, or transfer to another job.
